It’s a girl!
The ultrasound was absolutely fascinating, which distracted me from the fact that I had to pee (and, no, I didn’t make my 32 ounce quota in 15 minutes). Jason and I had a great time identifying parts, and it was a lot easier to see than we expected. Everything seemed to be in its proper place, though we’ll have to wait for the radiologist’s report to know for sure. They call if there’s anything abnormal. The ultrasound technician said that she weighs about 1 pound, and her head measured at just over 2 inches in diameter.

She's reclining with her head to the left and torso to the right. There's a hand sticking up behind.
Since it was after lunch, we got to see her punching and kicking a bunch. And those were the movements that I didn’t feel! We also got to see her heart beating and the smart software calculated it at 155 bpm. It was a pretty cool show!
Now we have the hard task of picking out a name. Boy names are much easier for us. I’m glad we still have 20 weeks to decide!

how exciting! congrats on finding out what she’s going to be
Jordan and I are thinking about the name “Claire” for a girl. It’s fun to go through the books and web sites.

So exciting! Picking out names seems like fun, although I’m sure that listening to everyone else’s opinions could get old. Good luck!

Fun! I’m glad she gave you a good show! Wow – 1lb already! Crazy! If ours ends up being a girl, we’re going to have similar name issues

it’s a girl! oh i’m so excited for you. that’s what i’m hoping for, but i’ve got 7 more weeks to wait to find out. her herat rate is fast, that one. happy picking out names. we came to a decision so quickly and easily on a girl. but only decided on a boy’s name last week. a lot of pressure coming up with names!

How exciting! Congratulations!
And how funny…I think it would easier to come up with good girl names than good boy names. So just watch…I’ll wind up having a boy, when that time comes!

Congratulations Melissa (and Jason too)! I can’t wait to hear what adorable name you have picked out for your daughter! How exciting! I agree with the other comments – girls have such cuter baby clothes!

Congrats. Yeah another girl. Boys seem to be what everyone else is having.
