I finished another pair of these baby pants for James on Thanksgiving, while James took a blissful 2-hour nap and Alice lay quietly on the sewing room floor listening to nursery rhymes on the iPod. Now that the pattern is traced and cut out, the pants only take about 2 hours from start to finish. It’s nice to sew such a quick and satisfying project that is also useful and cute.

This pair uses a muted greenish stretch denim from JoAnn’s lined with a soft woven plaid cut from a huge men’s shirt I got from the clearance rack at Old Navy. The knee patches are Little Golden Book fabric. I have such a hard time finding boyish garment fabric that I like, so I’m learning to get creative with my fabric sources. I really need to start hitting the second-hand stores more for the best deals.
