An executive with global business experience who lived in five different countries over his longstanding career, Georg has strategized for and achieved success in the agriculture industry and has established Indigo’ presence in Europe since 2019. As Global Head of Indigo’s Biological Products Business Unit he will translate this success in supporting grower profitability, environmental sustainability, and consumer health across the globe.
Georg is a frequent speaker and guest author on the benefits of regenerative agriculture in transforming the agri-food sector and how agriculture can become part of the climate solution. Over the last 5 years Georg has – together with his team - successfully established Indigo Ag’s business in Europe, developing biologicals business across multiple countries as well as launching a series of pilots to test Indigo Ag’s sustainability solutions in Belgium and Germany. Since fall 2023, he has taken on the leadership of the global biological products team, focussing on continued product, data and application innovation. Since May 2024, is now fully accountable for the newly created global biologicals business unit, combining all regional commercial business teams and the global biological products team under one umbrella.
Prior to joining Indigo Ag, Georg was a senior business leader at Syngenta for over fifteen years for Syngenta. As Head Commercial Operations & Strategy Europe Africa & Middle East (EAME), his most recent tenure before joining Indigo Ag, Georg was responsible for the development and implementation of Syngenta’s Strategy & Business development including the digitalization approach across the region. Important aspects of his work included improving customer experience and developing commercial capabilities within the organization. In previous roles, Georg led and grew Syngenta’s Seedcare business in EAME and also acted as Head Lawn & Garden in the region, (which included responsibility for the consumer business for Syngenta in EAME). He joined Syngenta as Senior Mergers and Acquisitions manager in 2003 and led various Mergers and Acquisitions transactions expanding Syngenta’s genetic portfolio and Go-to-Market capabilities.
Before Syngenta, Georg was a vice president at Deutsche Bank. He was a key leader in the investment bank’s eVentures team, where strategic investments were made in digital companies and platforms. He started his professional career at Deutsche Bank Group as a consultant in Mergers and Acquisitions advisory.
Georg holds a Master’s Degree in Economics from Albert Ludwigs University, located in Germany. He also studied at the University Paul Valery, Montpellier and the ISG in Paris, France. He speaks five languages, including German, English, French, Spanish and a bit of Danish.
